Nice quenched object not in Quench

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

SDSS J130117.75+211436.1 and SDSS J130118.55+211428.7 are a nice merging pair, each with SDSS spectra (z 0.081 and 0.080, respectively). They/it do/does not appear to be QS object(s):

The bigger galaxy has an obvious E+A spectrum, along with a broadline QSO/AGN one:

It's also a radio source (FIRSTJ130117.6+211436) - and the smaller galaxy show nuclear radio emission too) - with possible jets:

It was posted in RGZ Talk, by andymarrison, in the Galaxies merging in SDSS image? thread.

The contour overlay image in this post was created from sources, and using methods, described in this RGZ Talk post. The object at the center of the image is SDSS J130117.75+211436.1.

    Jean:

Nice catch, but the quenched galaxy was a BOSS target so it couldn't have been in the Quench sample even if it otherwise met the selection criteria.
