  a 3d spiral arm arrangement that would probably fit is if the galaxy was spinning on an axis that laid along the bar with arms as streamers

  Do galactic poles change over time like the earth's n-s pole? If so, the galaxy may flatten out into a flat disc spiral depending on angle
