  Specifically, how to create a CLEAN QC dataset by removing (a subset of) the duplicates?

  There's no point in doing data analysis on a set of objects which contain duplicates, and in this case, there's no neat way to identify the duplicates to be removed ... it has to be done via a list.

  More generally, we will need to identify, and then 'throw out', objects in QC (and in QS), to create CLEAN datasets. THEN we start doing data analysis on the CLEAN datasets.
