Is the green/red/blue above the galaxy an artifact?

If I remember correctly, this is the signature of an #asteroid. The effect is due to its motion between imaging at different wavelengths.

The green/red/blue object is indeed an asteroid. Because it moves it gets caught by the different filters at different times.

interesting, but why is it not in the order of red/green/blue from largest to smallest wavelength

RGB not spectral, but filter order. Interesting halo around red pip in upper right (invert image). Sorry, galaxy has no notable elements.
