Any scientists know what this might be?

Simbad has this down as an object of unknown nature. I can't make out if it is in this galaxy or in front of it. Unless the colour is an artifact it is blue/green, and there is another greenish area below and to the right of it.

Good catch everyone! The Examine page takes you to a nearby smaller blob (with a different ObjID) rather than the striking blue one in this image which is marked as having a spectrum but I haven't been able to locate it yet..

Here's the "interactive spectrum" from DR9 -- for some reason Navigate doesn't recognize an object there:

This must be a star forming region in the galaxy, judging by the redshift.
