Intense central bulge

This galaxy has a very defined central bulge. Is this a coincidence of a superposition of a star in front of a far distant galaxy? Why is the central bulge so much brighter and so much more contrasted than the rest of the disc? Thanks for any comments.

I think this is partly due to low resolution and color contrast - we can check this out when the multi-wavelength viewer becomes available - and partly real. The spectrum looks - to my eye - just like that of a typical bulge, with some trace of star-formation (the emission lines):
I myself am not all that familiar with the spectra of individual stars, but this doesn't look like one of those.
