Red dot sighted

  I presume the red formation is not part of this galaxy, but a closer or possibly an orbiting dwarf galaxy. Any other thoughts?

  impossible to say, IMHO; however, given that there are two other 'red dots' in the same field - most likely foreground stars - a fair chance this is one too.
