Galaxy Zoo Starburst Talk
Not yet -- the developers are hard at work on that: http://quenchtalk.galaxyzoo.org/#/boards/BGS0000002/discussions/DGS000001h
Feel free to tag that as a possible #overlap -- I wonder if others will think it's a merger?
Click on Examine and then SkyServer to see more info about the galaxy; NED will sometimes also uncover images at other wavelengths.
Always classify the central object -- which in this case looks like it's not exactly aligned with the center of the image!
I'd certainly bet that the top and bottom right are interacting. Not sure about the bottom left; it's pretty symmetric.
The orange thing in the middle looks to me like a foreground star. I agree I think I can see a separate feature connecting the galaxies.
Thanks for classifying!
Lovely. questing wolf, the # is put in front of a word you'd like to use as a tag, e.g. #irregular - and it will then show up under "tags".
Caveat: I also kind of see AGN everywhere. 😃 http://skyserver.sdss3.org/dr8/en/tools/explore/obj.asp?ra=201.461&dec=17.2363
That white color (~PSF-size) just says active galaxy to me (quenched or otherwise). Wouldn't be surprised to see a BLAGN/QSO label in SDSS.
Cool! #AGN maybe too?
Always classify the central object & consider whether it may be interacting with the others -- thanks!
I think I'd agree, even ignoring the #foregroundstar and the #asteroid!
